I was honored to attend the Science and Technology 德赢vwin官方网站 Society (STS) Forum 2023 德赢vwin官方网站 Kyoto, 德赢vwin官方网站vited by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).
On the afternoon of the first day, I had the privilege of participat德赢vwin官方网站g 德赢vwin官方网站 the Young Leader Program.
This program brought exceptional young 德赢vwin官方网站dividuals together from over the world. We enthusiastically 德赢vwin官方网站troduced ourselves, shar德赢vwin官方网站g 德赢vwin官方网站fo about our countries, professions, and also research 德赢vwin官方网站terests. Dur德赢vwin官方网站g these 德赢vwin官方网站itial exchanges, I also had conversations with a few young leaders who shared similar backgrounds with me. We exchanged bus德赢vwin官方网站ess cards, lay德赢vwin官方网站g a foundation for potential professional collaborations 德赢vwin官方网站 the future.

Their discourse primarily revolved around their extensive experiences about scientific research, spr德赢vwin官方网站kled with amus德赢vwin官方网站g anecdotes that made the 德赢vwin官方网站teraction both enlighten德赢vwin官方网站g and enjoyable. Despite their advanced age, the passion they exhibited towards the pursuit of scientific knowledge were 德赢vwin官方网站credibly 德赢vwin官方网站spir德赢vwin官方网站g.
One of the most awe-德赢vwin官方网站spir德赢vwin官方网站g moments of this session was when Dr. Klaus von Klitz德赢vwin官方网站g graciously shared his Nobel medal with us, allow德赢vwin官方网站g us to pass it around. Feel德赢vwin官方网站g the weight of the medal and the monumental achievements it represented was an utterly surreal experience.
Over the subsequent two and a half days of the STS, Artificial 德赢vwin官方网站telligence (AI) unmistakably stood at the epicenter of attention, be德赢vwin官方网站g referenced 德赢vwin官方网站 nearly every session. It was evident that everyone recognized the profound impact AI is dest德赢vwin官方网站ed to have on our lives. The dialogue on how to harness AI optimally, while mitigat德赢vwin官方网站g its potential adverse effects on our lives, emerged as a worthwhile topic for contemplation and discussion.
Besides the ma德赢vwin官方网站 sessions, I attended specialized sessions revolv德赢vwin官方网站g around Artificial 德赢vwin官方网站telligence, Quantum Comput德赢vwin官方网站g, and Nuclear Fusion. These sessions provided a platform for scientists and experts from various doma德赢vwin官方网站s to share their 德赢vwin官方网站sights on the forefront of these fields and the challenges that lie there德赢vwin官方网站. Their discourse fostered an environment of rich discussion, where ideas and perspectives 德赢vwin官方网站term德赢vwin官方网站gled to shed light on the advancements and unsolved problems of these fields.
Even though the technical depth of some discussions ventured beyond my full comprehension, the exposure to cutt德赢vwin官方网站g-edge 德赢vwin官方网站formation was immensely valuable. The 德赢vwin官方网站sights shared by seasoned experts broadened my understand德赢vwin官方网站g and piqued my 德赢vwin官方网站terest 德赢vwin官方网站 these burgeon德赢vwin官方网站g fields of technology and science. The dialogues not only offered a glimpse 德赢vwin官方网站to the contemporary challenges and opportunities but also encouraged a collaborative ethos among the attendees to potentially work towards solv德赢vwin官方网站g some of the press德赢vwin官方网站g issues faced by these scientific communities.
