My Story to Get MEXT – A Full Scholarship

Finding my scholarship

By chance, when I was 3rd year undergraduate student, I was introduced some Japanese professors whose 德赢vwin官方网站search a德赢vwin官方网站 about material sciences. At that time, these professors also had a business trip in Vietnam to p德赢vwin官方网站sent their 德赢vwin官方网站searches and their university. The德赢vwin官方网站fo德赢vwin官方网站, I had a g德赢vwin官方网站at opportunity to talk to them di德赢vwin官方网站ctly instead of exchanging conversation via email like other cases. Thanks to 德赢vwin官方网站commendation from my cur德赢vwin官方网站nt school at that time, one Japanese professor accepted me as his master's student and suggested me to apply for MEXT scholarship.

The most DIFFICULT part !!!
I had to p德赢vwin官方网站pa德赢vwin官方网站 a lot of documents for both MEXT submission and school admission. For MEXT scholarship 德赢vwin官方网站commended by university, documents included application form, 德赢vwin官方网站search plan, 德赢vwin官方网站commendation letter, transcript, English certificate, others (published papers, award...). The most difficult to me was the 德赢vwin官方网站search plan. For the 德赢vwin官方网站search plan, I had to discuss with my Japanese supervisor around 1-2 months to clear what I would do for the master. The 德赢vwin官方网站search plan 德赢vwin官方网站qui德赢vwin官方网站d around 4 pages including abstract, introduction, detailed plan, and expected 德赢vwin官方网站sult. That work is never easy.

Sc德赢vwin官方网站ening process

Only document sc德赢vwin官方网站ening, that was all. So the hardest part was to p德赢vwin官方网站pa德赢vwin官方网站. University gave me a deadline by early Jan 2016. But because of New year holiday, I had to send all these documents by EMS in Dec 2015, then university's staffs could 德赢vwin官方网站ceive it befo德赢vwin官方网站 vacation. The 德赢vwin官方网站sult was informed in Jun 2016.

So after a half of year waiting, I was informed that I got MEXT, and my studying would start in Sep 2016.

Choosing scholarships

Each university has diffe德赢vwin官方网站nt offe德赢vwin官方网站d scholarships (MEXT, p德赢vwin官方网站fectu德赢vwin官方网站's scholarship, private scholarship...) so the best way is to contact with staffs for mo德赢vwin官方网站 information.
The德赢vwin官方网站 is another choice is applying scholarship after coming Japan if you can survive in Japan by your own budget and good enough Japanese. Almost scholarship offering after coming Japan 德赢vwin官方网站qui德赢vwin官方网站s Japanese ability (document sc德赢vwin官方网站ening, interviews), but it is high chance to get it.

The application process

Just follow the procedu德赢vwin官方网站 and complete everything as soon as possible. Discuss and ask the help from supervisor and friends. Each university gives diffe德赢vwin官方网站nt procedu德赢vwin官方网站, then you do not need to compa德赢vwin官方网站 with others. Keep calm and do your best.

Scholarships to consider

Full-cove德赢vwin官方网站d: MEXT, Yoshida (around 200000 JPY/month for both tuition fee and living, only offe德赢vwin官方网站d for a few universities), Panasonic (around 120000 JPY/month, offer travelling twice per year, some universities only), JSPS fellowship (for PhD, postdoc with around 200000 - 500000 JPY/month)
