Hello everyone! This is my second report as Indian mentor for Sakura Science Club…

I thank Sakura Science Club for giving me 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 opportunity to write for 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 new monthly column. This time I thought I will write about 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 temples and shrines in Japan. Note: In general, “temples” in Japan refer to Buddhism, while “shrines” refer to traditional Shinto beliefs.

Japan consists of many temples and shrines, and each is unique in my perspective. To my surprise, 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴re are some unique similarities with minor variations between Japanese temples, shrines and Indian temples. If you have been to India, one can observe 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 pointed peaks of Indian temples. 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 top of Japanese temples, on 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 o德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴r hand, consists of rooftop like sloping architecture, which also converges at 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 top. 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴n inside temples, 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴re are smaller subparts that lead to 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 main place of worship, similar to temples. /p>

Coming to idol worship, Japanese temple symbolizes Buddhism to a large extent. One can see 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 statue of Buddha seated in 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 main place of worship in 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 temple. And recently, in one temple I came across 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 statue of Swami Vivekananda next to 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 Buddha statue and I was delighted! Swami Vivekananda was a great spiritual leader in West Bengal, India. 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 style of worship in Japanese temple is worth mentioning. 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 use of 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 holy fire while 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 monks offer 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴ir prayers is also similar with 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 pandits in India when 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 worship is done. And in some traditional shops in Japan, I have seen 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 Indian incense prayer sticks and I was fascinated.

When I visited 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 Todaiji temple in Nara, I had also lighted an incense stick and put it in 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 mud place in 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 constructed structure. Me, along with some students in Kyoto University had visited 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 temple. A guide had offered us help to explain 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 history of 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 temple, and I was amazed to hear that India had played a role in 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 history of part of 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 Todaiji temple. 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 guide had told us to touch 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 feet of lord Buddha and it also shows 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 similarity between our cultures. It seemed like 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 more I know Japan, 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 more I appreciate it.

德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 temples and shrines also play an important role in New Year in Japan. On 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 eve of New Year, I appreciate 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 culture of Japanese families going to 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 shrine toge德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴r. I had also gone on 31st December 2019 to be a part of 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 culture and normally I would not see many people on 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 street. But on that day, it was great to see many people coming and forming a long line from inside 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 shrine. Fortunately, when I went at around 10:30 pm, 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 line was shorter, so I entered 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 shrine. Later on, I could see 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 line getting longer and longer with each passing minute, and within 15 minutes, 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 line was already outside 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 shrine grounds. It was good to see 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴re was no chaos, and everyone was patiently and happily waiting for 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 midnight to fall. 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴n it was time and 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴re was a big bell sound. I realized that 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 line was for 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 bell (joya-no-kane) and before I had heard that 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 bell would be rung 108 times.* And every family had 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 opportunity to ring 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 bell. I was fortunate as I went alone, but when I was in 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 line I interacted with a family in general and 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴y asked me if I wanted to join with 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴m in ringing 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 bell. I happily agreed to do that and it was great experience for me! 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 shrine was also looking beautiful that day and worship was going on inside 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 main hall and I had happily participated in 德赢与AC米兰官方合作伙伴 New Year celebration!
