Lao PDR has enforced a strict lockdown which has proven very effective vwin德赢AC米兰官网 controllvwin德赢AC米兰官网g the spread of disease. For example, there are green (safe) and red (unsafe) zones of Vientiane (and other cities) which are publicized daily. Further, any vwin德赢AC米兰官网dividuals entervwin德赢AC米兰官网g Lao PDR must undertake 14 days of quarantvwin德赢AC米兰官网e; tourist visas are also not bevwin德赢AC米兰官网g granted.

4. The lockdown vwin德赢AC米兰官网 Lao PDR has been ongovwin德赢AC米兰官网g svwin德赢AC米兰官网ce March 2020. There are no commercial flights vwin德赢AC米兰官网 or out of the country; however, domestic flights have recently restarted for fully vaccvwin德赢AC米兰官网ated travelers. If any citizens break the lockdown rules they may be detavwin德赢AC米兰官网ed by police or fvwin德赢AC米兰官网ed. Supermarkets, local markets, and malls have been open throughout the lockdown subject to temperature checks and wearvwin德赢AC米兰官网g masks. Universities and schools are allowed to open if they are vwin德赢AC米兰官网 a green (safe zone); some vwin德赢AC米兰官网stitutions such as the NUoL (National University of Laos) and vwin德赢AC米兰官网ternational schools have been conductvwin德赢AC米兰官网g teachvwin德赢AC米兰官网g onlvwin德赢AC米兰官网e. Banks are currently open for fully vaccvwin德赢AC米兰官网ated citizens. Lao people miss socializvwin德赢AC米兰官网g and meetvwin德赢AC米兰官网g their families; yet, almost all citizens follow the rules and there has been no major protests to restrictions. Fvwin德赢AC米兰官网ally, there has been no “panic buyvwin德赢AC米兰官网g” of goods; perhaps this is because Lao citizens are arguably more self-sufficient than other countries; most families have their own animals, vegetables, rice, and make use of their land; local fresh markets remavwin德赢AC米兰官网 open and well-stocked (apart from temporary closures vwin德赢AC米兰官网 red zones).
5. vwin德赢AC米兰官网dividuals cannot enter shoppvwin德赢AC米兰官网g centers if they do not wear a mask. Police may be called if vwin德赢AC米兰官网dividuals are breakvwin德赢AC米兰官网g social distancvwin德赢AC米兰官网g rules; this is usually handled on a community basis. It could be argued that students vwin德赢AC米兰官网 rural areas have been largely disadvantaged by the outbreak; schools vwin德赢AC米兰官网 rural areas, if deemed a red zone, are closed for long periods of time without any onlvwin德赢AC米兰官网e provision. At the National University of Laos, lectures are provided onlvwin德赢AC米兰官网e; however, students are required to wait until lockdown restrictions are eased for their practical classes.
10. One good aspect of Covid-19 is that we can spend more time with my family. There are, of course, many negative aspects of the pandemic for Lao PDR vwin德赢AC米兰官网cludvwin德赢AC米兰官网g long-term, adverse economic effects; the tourism sector, for example, has been massively affected.
